Glutamic Aspartic Transaminase
نویسنده
چکیده
Aspartate and glutamate react instantaneously with the pyridoxal form of the pig heart glutamic aspartic transaminase (1) to yield the corresponding keto acid, converting the enzymebound pyridoxal phosphate to bound pyridoxamine phosphate (2). Other amino acids such as methionine sulfoxide, methionine sulfone, and alanine react much more slowly with the enzyme, but the reaction itself appears to be essentially the same. This paper describes experiments performed with L-alanine to study the mechanism of transamination.

Comparison Studies on Complexation of Molybdenum(VI) with Aspartic Acid And Glutamic Acid in Different Dielectric Constants1
Equilibria of the reaction of molybdenum(VI) with L-aspartic acid (Asp) and L- Glutamic acid(Glu) have been studied by spectrophotometric measurements in mixed solvent systems at an ionicstrength of 0.2 mol/dm3 sodium perchlorate, employed (15, 20, 25, 30± 0.1°C) at pH ranges of 3.2to 5.5 with a high ratio of ligand to metal. The stability constants of the complexes and theresulting free energy...

It has now been clearly established that pyridoxal phosphate serves as the coenayme of many transaminases. Several lines of evidence have indicated that the coenzyme acts alternately as acceptor and donar of amino groups, shuttling between the aldehydic (pyridoxal phosphate) and amino (pyridoxamine phosphate) forms (2-11). However, a detailed study of the kinetics of the transaminase reaction w...
متن کاملTransaminases in the epididymal fluid of the ram.
In a study of the composition of the epididymal fluid of rams, attention was given to the fact that nitrogen compounds constitute a great part of the dry matter and that so far seventeen free amino acids have been detected in the fluid (Ch. Neumark, unpublished data). It was therefore deemed of interest to study the enzymes of their metabolism. Two principal transaminases were investigated: glu...
متن کاملDetermination of aspartic and glutamic acids by enzymatic decarboxylation.
Suspensions of Clostridium welchii (strain SR 12) quantitatively decarboxylate the L isomers of aspartic (1) and glutamic acids (2) to ar-alanine and y-aminobutyric acid, respectively. Although a quantitative procedure for the determination of glutamic acid based upon decarboxylation with this organism has been described (3), it has been found that aspartic acid, especially in the presence of c...

This communication concerns two patients in whom spuriously enhanced SGOT (serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase; L-aspartate: 2-oxoglutarate amino-transferase, EC 2.6.1.1), as determined by the SMA 12/60 AutoAnalyzer (Technicon Corp., Tarrytown, N.Y. 10591), led to erroneous diagnoses of liver disease. This error can be avoided by checking suspect supranormal SMA 12/60 values by ultraviolet ...
